BANGLADESH: Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), one of Bangladesh’s largest industrial conglomerates, has entered the sanitaryware market to capitalise on rising demand supported by increased construction activity. The group, which has more than two decades of experience in manufacturing construction materials, including cement, expanded into sanitaryware five years after launching its ceramic products business in 2021 as part of its broader product diversification strategy.
MGI has invested approximately Tk 300 crore ($24.5 million) in its sanitary products business, with its manufacturing facility having a production capacity of around 60,000 pieces per month. The facility currently employs more than 600 people, strengthening the group’s presence in the building materials sector while expanding its product portfolio beyond its established cement and ceramic businesses.
