France: After previously announcing a suspension of major energy renovation scheme until 2026, the French government has reversed its decision and will reopen the MaPrimeRénov portal on 15 September 2025. As the main subsidy for energy renovations in France, its return is crucial for homeowners and professionals alike. The government has also pledged additional funding and a simplified application process to support the energy transition more effectively.
Despite this policy reversal, discontent remains high among construction companies and distributors. During their annual congress, the French Building Federation (FFB) voiced strong dissatisfaction with how the suspension was handled. “The freezing of MaPrimeRénov marks a breaking point for construction contractors,” the FFB declared, warning that “if the government does not review its copy, the FFB will take to the streets.” Many in the sector view recent decisions as destabilising and are calling for more consistent, transparent support to restore confidence in the renovation market.
