Major Hotel Brands Gain Traction in Australia
Updated: May 17
Australia: Australia's hotel industry is experiencing a surge of activity, with major hotel brand groups actively expanding their presence in the country. This renewed momentum follows a period of recovery from the pandemic, fuelled by strong performance in 2023 with rising occupancy rates and revenue growth.
A flurry of new hotel signings took place in April and May of 2024, coinciding with the region's AHICE conference held in Adelaide. This surge in activity reflects the confidence and optimism surrounding the Australian hotel market.
Among the developments is the addition of a new Kimpton hotel in Brisbane. This will be the second Kimpton property in Australia and will be part of a mixed-use development. The hotel will boast 155 rooms and a stunning rooftop restaurant with 200 seats on its 14th floor.
Furthermore, Hilton has inked a deal to add a new Garden Inn hotel in Townsville, Queensland. Developed by Focus Pacific Property Development, the 190-room property is slated for completion in 2026 and will enjoy a prime location near the Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
