Maharashtra Approves Land Acquisition for Affordable Housing in Borivali

India: The Government of Maharashtra, led by Devendra Fadnavis, has approved the acquisition of land from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited in Borivali to support housing development. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Maharashtra Housing Development Authority held at Sahyadri Guest House. The land parcels, covering 28.84 acres in Gorai and Shimpoli, are planned for the construction of more than 1,000 housing units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.


The land acquisition is valued at Rs 729 crore (approximately USD 87 million) and will be carried out at ready reckoner rates, according to a government release. The development is part of ongoing efforts to increase housing availability in the state through planned projects under existing housing programmes.
