Saudi Arabia: LG Electronics (LG) CEO William Cho has signed an MoU with SHAKER Group and global data infrastructure provider DATAVOLT to supply advanced thermal management solutions for an AI data center in Oxagon, part of Saudi Arabia’s NEOM City project. The agreement marks the 30th anniversary of LG’s partnership with SHAKER, its sole distributor of air conditioners in Saudi Arabia, and will position AI data center cooling as a new growth engine for LG’s HVAC business. DATAVOLT’s hyperscale data center in Oxagon is planned as one of the largest in the region, with additional projects under way in Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, and other Asian markets.
The collaboration supports LG’s “One LG Solution” strategy by integrating large-scale chillers, coolant distribution units, and potential synergies with LG Energy Solution and LG CNS. Cho highlighted the Middle East and Africa as key growth regions, noting that non-oil GDP in the Gulf Cooperation Council is projected to grow 4% in 2025. Over the past five years, LG’s sales in the region have risen more than 30%, driven by HVAC innovations tailored to extreme climates in partnership with SHAKER Group. This marks Cho’s third Global South visit this year, underscoring the region’s role as a cornerstone of LG’s long-term expansion strategy.
