South Korea: LG Electronics has reported consolidated revenue of KRW 20.74 trillion (USD 14.9 billion) and an operating profit of KRW 639.4 billion (USD 460 million) for the second quarter of 2025, reflecting a year-on-year decline. The decrease has been attributed to ongoing global market softness, higher tariff costs due to changes in US trade policy, and intensified competition. Increased logistics and operating expenses also contributed to the lower profitability compared to the same period last year.
Despite these challenges, the Home Appliance Solution, Vehicle Solution, and Eco Solution businesses achieved their highest-ever second-quarter results, with each recording year-on-year growth in both revenue and operating profit. Notably, the Vehicle Solution segment posted its highest-ever quarterly revenue and profit. In contrast, the Media Entertainment Solution segment reported an operating loss, mainly due to reduced television sales and increased marketing costs, although its webOS-based content and advertising business remained a stable contributor.
