South Korea: LG Electronics reported record-breaking first-quarter sales, surpassing 22 trillion won (US$ 15 billion) for the first time in its history. The company announced on April 7 that its Q1 2025 revenue reached 22.7447 trillion won (US$ 15 billion), marking a 7.8% increase year-on-year. This performance stands as the second-highest quarterly sales figure, just behind the 22.7775 trillion won (US$ 15 billion) achieved in Q4 2024.

The growth is attributed to the successful establishment of new business models such as B2B, subscription services, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) channels, along with a strong performance in the HVAC segment. LG’s HVAC business—particularly recognized for its potential as a thermal management solution for AI data centers—has emerged as a standout success.

Operating profit for the quarter was 1.259 trillion won (US$ 855 million), down 5.7% from the same period last year but showing a significant recovery from the previous quarter’s 146.1 billion won (US$ 99 million).

A key contributor to the revenue growth was LG’s Electronics Solutions (ES) division, which has been aggressively promoting HVAC as a strategic focus. The division’s flagship products include chillers (large-capacity air conditioners), commercial system air conditioners, and home air conditioning units. Notably, LG recently supplied its "MultiVi" commercial HVAC system to Singapore’s Tuas Logistics Center—a facility spanning the size of nine soccer fields. The global surge in demand for HVAC systems is being fueled by the expansion of AI data centers, with major tech companies prioritizing efficient thermal management.
