South Korea: LG Electronics has signed a strategic partnership with GS ITM to supply high-efficiency HVAC systems to Korea's rapidly expanding data center sector, driven by AI-led digital growth. The agreement was signed on May 23, 2025, at LG Science Park in Seoul, and will enable both companies to jointly provide HVAC systems and IT infrastructure for upcoming data centers across the greater Seoul area. In addition to new installations, the partnership includes energy diagnostic services and customized retrofits for existing centers to enhance cooling efficiency and achieve energy savings.
System integrators like GS ITM manage the overall design and operation of data centers, working with partners across construction, power, memory, and HVAC. LG’s advanced portfolio of air- and liquid-cooling solutions is designed to minimize power usage and heat output, positioning the company for a stronger presence in this sector. According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea's data centers are projected to increase from 147 in 2024 to 637 by 2029—a more than fourfold rise. LG expects the collaboration will open broader B2B opportunities, extending beyond data centers to include power plants and commercial buildings.
