LG Electronics Begins Construction of New Manufacturing Plant in Andhra Pradesh

India: LG Electronics India Ltd (LGEIL) has commenced construction of a new manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The foundation ceremony was attended by Shri Nara Lokesh, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, along with senior government officials and LG executives from India and South Korea. The new plant, expected to become operational by the end of 2026, will be LGEIL’s third manufacturing facility in India, in addition to its existing plants in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and Pune, Maharashtra.

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved 247 acres of land for the project, which is expected to create approximately 1,495 direct jobs. LGEIL has planned an investment of around USD 600 million (INR 5,001 crore) over the next four years. The facility will focus on the production of air conditioner compressors, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. It is aimed at strengthening LGEIL’s supply chain in southern India, meeting local demand, and potentially fostering the development of supporting industries in the region.
