UK: Residents of 19 one-bedroom social flats at Lullington Close in Wythenshawe, Manchester, will benefit from lower energy bills and warmer homes this winter following the replacement of outdated electric night storage heaters with Kensa’s highly efficient Shoebox ground source heat pumps. The project, delivered by British manufacturer and installer Kensa for Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, includes seven boreholes drilled around the flats, with a shared underground pipe network providing renewable heat energy to each compact unit installed inside the homes.
With installation causing no more disruption than gas, the project supports Greater Manchester’s Warm Homes Social Housing Fund and offers a replicable model for delivering long-term energy savings, improved comfort, and reduced fuel poverty across the region.
