Indonesia: Indonesia plans to extend its self-help housing renovation programme to all districts and cities for the first time in 2026, according to the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait. He noted that 224 districts and cities will not receive allocations in 2025, including 22 areas that have not received assistance through the Self-Help Housing Stimulus (BSPS) programme for five years. From 2026, the ministry is expected to use indicators from Statistics Indonesia to prioritise regions, including poverty rates, poverty depth, the Gini ratio, the number of disadvantaged villages and the proportion of low-income households living in unsuitable housing.

The government also intends to advance two key housing initiatives in 2026: the nationwide BSPS renovation scheme and the construction of subsidised homes for low-income households. The BSPS programme is viewed as central to addressing the estimated 26 million uninhabitable homes across the country. The subsidised housing initiative aims to support the development of 500,000 units, backed by Sejahtera mortgage loans under the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP), to increase access to affordable homeownership.
