Indonesia: The Indonesian government will distribute at least twenty-five thousand subsidized homes to beneficiaries across the country, Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait announced on Wednesday. The main ceremony will be held in Bogor, West Java, chosen for its housing development record and high levels of extreme poverty. The handover will be conducted simultaneously at ninety locations across thirty provinces, with homes purchased through loans managed by the Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera). According to BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho, the initiative, which includes mortgages under the Housing Ownership Loan (KPR) and the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) schemes, will mark the largest housing handover in Indonesia’s history.
The government also plans to expand subsidized housing in major cities, prioritizing vertical developments in urban areas such as Jakarta where land availability is limited. From January to mid-September, more than two hundred and twenty-one thousand KPR units were realized, including homes under construction, ready stock, and those with contracts awaiting mortgage disbursement, with over one hundred and seventy-five thousand financed through the FLPP scheme.
