Indonesia: The Indonesian government has confirmed that its economic stimulus measures will continue in the second half of 2025, including wage subsidies for workers earning below Rp10 million (USD 610) and income tax exemptions for specific sectors. According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, these programmes have already supported 1.7 million workers. The initiatives also include labour-intensive schemes, housing support through the Housing People’s Business Credit (KUR), and home renovation assistance.
In addition, the government is preparing measures to prevent large-scale layoffs while promoting deregulation in certain industrial sectors, particularly in Java, which is expected to generate more than 100,000 jobs. Employment protection for contract workers will also continue. Hartarto stated that Indonesia’s macroeconomic situation remains stable, with the rupiah exchange rate at around Rp16,400 (USD 1.03) per US dollar and the stock market showing signs of recovery after recent corrections.
