CANADA: India and Canada have renewed efforts to strengthen economic relations by accelerating negotiations on the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), with both countries aiming to conclude talks by the end of 2026 and increase bilateral trade to US$50 billion by 2030. Recent high-level meetings in Toronto focused on expanding cooperation across advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, clean technology, energy, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. Current merchandise trade between the two countries stands at approximately US$7.96 billion, with India's exports to Canada rising to US$4.67 billion in FY2025-26, while imports from Canada declined to US$3.29 billion. The agreement is expected to improve market access, facilitate investment, strengthen supply chains and support long-term economic cooperation between the two nations
