INDIA: India’s air conditioner manufacturers are flagging possible production pressures as shortages of LPG and petrochemicals, linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict, begin to surface. The tightening supply is driving up input costs just ahead of the peak summer season, with prices already increasing by 5–15%. Given the industry’s heavy dependence on imports routed through the Strait of Hormuz, any prolonged disruption could impact both manufacturing output and end-user pricing.
Major players such as PG Electroplast, Godrej, and Epack Durable have reported constrained availability of key inputs like LPG and petrochemicals. LPG is critical for processes such as copper brazing and curing powder-coated components, while materials like polypropylene and polystyrene are widely used in plastic mechanical parts.
Although production is continuing for now, industry executives caution that sustained shortages during the summer months could disrupt supply-demand balance, particularly as manufacturers are already preparing for price hikes between April and May.
