IKEA Launches Heat Pumps in Select European Markets

EU: IKEA has expanded its offerings in the home energy sector by introducing a range of heat pumps in several European countries, including Sweden, Italy and Spain, with plans to launch in Germany. The initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to make renewable energy solutions more accessible. The new products include two types of systems: air-to-water heat pumps, which provide heating, cooling, and hot water; and air-to-air heat pumps, which offer heating and cooling but do not supply hot water.
The launch is part of IKEA’s ongoing collaboration with Svea Solar, a Swedish renewable energy company it has partnered with since 2020. While the company has expressed interest in expanding the heat pump offering to additional countries, there is currently no confirmed timeline for a rollout in the United Kingdom. Other sustainable initiatives from IKEA in the UK, such as mattress take-back and product re-use programmes, are ongoing.
