Hong Kong Economy Beats Growth Forecasts with 5.2% GDP Expansion in Q3

HONG KONG: Hong Kong's economy expanded by 5.2% year-on-year in Q3 2026, accelerating from 4.2% growth in Q2 and exceeding economists' expectations of 3.6%, according to official advance estimates reported by Reuters. Growth was supported by a 30.4% increase in goods exports, alongside continued domestic demand. Private consumption rose by 2.8% during the quarter, while GDP increased by 1.9% quarter-on-quarter. For the first three quarters of 2026, the economy grew by 5.1% year-on-year. The government maintained a positive outlook, citing strong exports, tourism and financial market activity, although geopolitical tensions and tighter global monetary conditions remain potential risks.
