Hisense Positions Air Conditioners as India’s Next Major Appliance Growth Driver
Hisense

INDIA: Hisense is positioning air conditioners as the cornerstone of its next growth phase in India, viewing the category as the fastest-growing appliance opportunity over the next decade. Citing single-digit AC penetration, CEO Pankaj Rana stated, "AC penetration in India is still in single digits, and over the next 10 years, air conditioners will be the biggest category in terms of CAGR growth." Hisense expects ACs to surpass TVs and refrigerators in value within five years, treating 2026 as a market reset after a weak 2025 season.

Rather than competing on features alone, Hisense is emphasising long-term performance, energy efficiency, and cost of ownership, supported by its global HVAC R&D and local manufacturing. The company’s Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh will begin mass AC production, with all January 2026 launches compliant with new BEE norms. While smart features are considered baseline, Hisense will target mass-premium buyers with its Perla Pro Series, priced between ₹30,000 (~US$360) and ₹50,000 (~US$600), and distributed via a broad omnichannel strategy.
