Speaking at the former Ovens College site in Wangaratta—an ideal location for future social housing—Dr. Haines unveiled her vision for a USD 2 billion Regional Housing Infrastructure Fund.
Dr. Haines successfully amended the government’s housing legislation last year to ensure regional voices are included in decision-making, leading to the announcement of the USD 500 million Housing Support Program for enabling infrastructure. The opposition has also adopted her long-standing policy by committing 30% of its housing fund to regional communities.
