Bathroom & Kitchen Market Reports 2024 Tier 1 & 2 countries

BRG is pleased to announce the recent publication of the 2025 Heating market reports for its tiers 1 and 2 countries.

BRG reports provide an in-depth overview of the most recent developments in the Heating markets in several European countries, including market trends, price developments, sales per sector, supply structure, and distribution patterns.

Heating Market Overview

In 2024, the European heating market experienced a mix of recovery and continued challenges across key product categories—boilers, heat pumps, radiators, and water heaters. While some countries saw encouraging rebounds, others continued to struggle, particularly in traditional heating segments.

Boilers showed contrasting trends across the continent. In some Central and Eastern European countries, sales grew significantly, likely driven by ongoing reliance on conventional systems and delayed replacements. Meanwhile, countries with strong decarbonization agendas or political uncertainties, such as Germany, saw boiler sales decline sharply, reflecting a shift toward heating technologies using more sustainable energy sources.

Heat pump sales declined after a few years of continued growth, as the momentum slowed down due to policy recalibrations, temporary market saturation following earlier rapid adoption, or customer dissatisfaction.

Radiator sales growth was notable in countries with active construction and renovation sectors, while others, especially those facing housing market slowdowns, saw a marked decline. In some regions, the shift toward alternative heat distribution systems, such as underfloor heating, also contributed to the downturn.

Water heater sales also showed various patterns across the countries as some saw moderate growth, likely tied to essential replacements and energy efficiency upgrades. Others, particularly those undergoing broader heating system transitions, experienced a noticeable drop in sales.

Market Drivers and Challenges

The slowdown in construction activity—especially in major markets like Germany and the UK—continued to weigh on sales tied to new builds while demand associated with necessary replacements proved more resilient.

The ongoing cost-of-living pressures influenced consumer behavior, with many households prioritizing cost-efficient replacements over discretionary upgrades. Government incentives, however, played a crucial role in supporting demand for heat pumps.

A persistent shortage of qualified installers remains a bottleneck, especially for complex systems. This has led to prioritization of heating system installations over other renovation work, echoing similar trends observed in the bathroom and kitchen sectors.

Outlook for 2025

Looking ahead, the market is expected to remain relatively stable, with heat pumps and water heaters linked to space heaters continuing to gain ground. Boilers and radiators may face further pressure in countries pushing for electrification and carbon reduction. Growth is likely to be led by countries with strong policy support and active renovation markets, while others may continue to face headwinds from economic and regulatory uncertainty.
