Hüppe Agrees Restructuring Plan to Retain Operations at Bad Zwischenahn Site

GERMANY: Shower manufacturer Hüppe has reached an agreement with the IG Metall trade union on a restructuring plan that is expected to retain operations at its Bad Zwischenahn site in the Ammerland district. According to the company, 78 of the current 191 positions will be retained under the agreement. The restructuring plan follows a social plan agreed between Hüppe and the union at the beginning of February.

Managing Director Julian Henco stated that the company intends to focus on its core competencies, saying, “Overall, Hüppe wants to concentrate on its core competencies.” These include the development and production of showers in the middle and upper price segments. Under the restructuring plan, the production of tubs and paint shop activities are expected to be transferred to supplier companies abroad. Hüppe has been insolvent since November and has cited increased material and energy costs as the reason. Creditors will now decide whether to approve the restructuring plan.
