Germany’s Largest Heat Pump Installer Thermondo Secures EUR 50 Million for Instalment Scheme

Germany: Germany-based heat pump installer Thermondo has secured EUR 50 million in special purpose vehicle financing to expand its flex financing programme. The initiative is aimed at supporting homeowners across Germany in adopting heat pump systems through long-term instalment plans. The funding is expected to enable the provision of approximately 1,600 heat pumps under this scheme. Through the flex model, homeowners can finance a heat pump over a 15-year period with fixed monthly payments, based on a market-standard effective annual interest rate of 6.00 per cent. Monthly instalments typically remain under EUR 300 before government subsidies. If the maximum subsidy of 70 per cent is applied through early partial repayment, the monthly cost may fall below EUR 100. The programme also allows for early or full repayment without additional charges.
The financing process, including consultation and customer service, is managed directly by Thermondo. Customers retain full ownership of the heat pump from the outset and are eligible for public subsidies and potentially lower long-term heating costs. Established in Berlin in 2013, Thermondo specializes in digital heating solutions and focuses on one- and two-family homes. In April 2024, the company expanded with the acquisition of photovoltaic provider Febesol, and now employs over 1,000 people, including more than 600 permanent craftsmen. The company has installed over 50,000 systems, including more than 9,000 heat pumps, and holds the second-largest customer base among cleantech firms in Germany.
