German Building Services Wholesale Trade Reports Sales Decline in H1 2025

Germany: Sales in Germany’s building services wholesale sector fell by 4.8 percent in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The sanitary ware category recorded a slight decline of 0.5 percent, while installation and heating products saw larger decreases of 5.2 percent and 6.2 percent respectively. The data suggest a broadly stagnant market for the year, with no clear sign of sustained recovery.
Monthly sales figures highlighted ongoing volatility. After a temporary increase in May across all categories, June saw a reversal, with sales declining across heating (-6.5 percent), installation (-8.6 percent), and sanitary (-1.8 percent) segments. Although one fewer working day in June accounted for an estimated 5 percent drop in sales, the lack of continued upward movement signals persistent market uncertainty. The installation segment showed particularly sharp fluctuations, with over 11 percentage points difference between May and June.
