Geberit Reports Rise in Q1 Sales Amid Market Challenges

Switzerland: Geberit Group has reported a 4.9% year-on-year increase in net sales for the first quarter of 2025, reaching CHF 878 million (EUR 891 million). When adjusted for currency effects, sales rose by 5.3%. The company’s operating cashflow (EBITDA) stood at CHF 277 million (EUR 281 million), with a margin of 31.5%, down from 32.8% in the previous year due to one-off costs of CHF 14 million (EUR 14 million) related to the closure of a ceramics plant in Germany. The sales growth was attributed to the launch of new products and increased wholesale purchases ahead of scheduled price rises in April. Regional sales increased in Europe by 5%, the Middle East and Africa by 14.9%, and America by 4.5%, while the Far East/Pacific region experienced a slight decline of 0.8%. Among product categories, Installation and Flushing Systems recorded the highest growth at 5.7%, followed by Bathroom Systems at 5.2% and Piping Systems at 4.8%.

Geberit noted growing geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainties, particularly in Europe, where growth remains limited, and in the USA, where new tariffs may affect economic activity. Inflation concerns may also influence expected interest rate cuts by central banks. Despite these risks, the company anticipates demand in the building construction sector to stabilise during 2025. Geberit plans to focus on expanding its shower toilet range with its AquaClean Alba product, developing its piping business, increasing its presence outside Europe, and improving the efficiency of its ceramics production facilities.
