USA: GE Appliances, a Haier company, has announced plans to invest more than USD 3 billion over the next five years in its United States operations, workforce, and communities. The initiative will focus on technological development, product innovation, and advanced manufacturing. As part of the plan, the company will expand its air conditioning and water heating portfolio, increase production across all product lines, and modernize its 11 manufacturing plants with new automation and capital equipment. The initial phase of investment will be directed towards facilities in Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
Following the completion of this programme, GE Appliances will have invested a total of USD 6.5 billion in its U.S. manufacturing sites and national distribution network since 2016. The newly announced investment represents the second largest in the company’s history and within the U.S. appliance industry, following the establishment of Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky, during the 1950s, which continues to serve as the company’s global headquarters.
