Future of Scottish Homebase Stores Uncertain Following Acquisition

Eight Homebase stores across Scotland are at risk of closure

UK: Eight Homebase stores across Scotland are at risk of closure following the DIY retailer's entry into administration. On November 13, it was confirmed that Hilco, the parent company of Homebase, appointed Teneo as administrators, shortly before CDS, owner of The Range, acquired the majority of Homebase’s stores. Among the 49 stores impacted, Edinburgh's Craigleith retail park branch is reported to be at risk.

Homebase, established in 1979, operates 145 locations across the UK and Ireland. While the 49 stores not included in the acquisition will continue trading temporarily, a buyer is being sought. Meanwhile, physical Homebase stores acquired will be rebranded as The Range locations, and the Homebase brand will maintain its presence online. However, the status of the Scottish branches remains uncertain as no details have been confirmed about their inclusion in the acquisition deal.
