Europe/China: The heat wave drives surge in AC Sales scorching Spain, France, Italy, and other parts of Europe since last month has led to a sharp rise in air conditioner demand, benefiting Chinese manufacturers. Haier Smart Home reported a 30% increase in AC sales across Europe since January, with Italy and Spain seeing particularly strong growth. June ranked among Europe’s hottest months on record, with temperatures surpassing 40°C in some cities, causing local AC inventories to shrink rapidly, according to Gree Electric Appliances.
Beyond the heat, Europe’s shift toward eco-friendly refrigerants has also driven up demand for newer AC models, replacing outdated units. Chinese air conditioner exports reached 9.7 million units in May, up 0.1% year-on-year in volume and 2.3% in value to USD 1.9 billion, with exports to Europe rising to 19.6% of the total.
