EUROPE: After two challenging years marked by cost inflation, weak demand and project delays, Europe’s construction sector is expected to return to growth in 2026. Following a contraction in 2024 and largely flat activity in 2025, stabilising economic conditions, improving confidence and sustained public investment are supporting a cautious recovery. Infrastructure and renovation projects are leading the rebound, underpinned by transport, energy and climate-related spending, while residential construction shows early signs of stabilisation. Growth will remain uneven across markets, with stronger momentum in Germany and Spain and more restrained progress in France and the Netherlands. Despite persistent challenges such as labour shortages and high costs, 2026 represents an important turning point for the sector’s gradual recovery.
