Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia: The European Union is moving forward in negotiations on new free trade agreements with the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia, according to its trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic. His comments came during a meeting in Kuala Lumpur between economic ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the bloc’s trading partners.
The EU is seeking to expand its trade relations beyond its existing agreements with Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia. Earlier this week, the EU and Indonesia concluded a free trade deal after nine years of discussions, aimed at increasing exports and investment while addressing the impact of tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
