Sweden: Energy Save has sold more than 10,000 heat pumps using R290 (propane) refrigerant within its residential heating business, marking a key milestone in advancing energy-efficient and climate-friendly heating solutions. Propane, a natural refrigerant with very low climate impact and significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) compared with traditional refrigerants, has become a strategic focus for the company due to its high energy efficiency. According to Deputy CEO Yibo Zhao, the strong sales reflect rising demand among European homeowners seeking reliable, future-proof heating with lower operating costs. The R290-based heat pumps are designed to provide stable operation and lower energy costs, perform reliably in cold Nordic climates, and help reduce carbon footprints while supporting long-term regulatory readiness.
