Chinese infrastructure, aviation giants wish to expand investment in Vietnam

Vietnam: During his visit to Tianjin for the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with leaders of China Pacific Construction Group (CPCG) and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), who expressed interest in expanding operations in Vietnam. CPCG, currently working on the Tu Lien Bridge in Hanoi, has signed a memorandum of understanding with local authorities for future infrastructure investment valued at billions of US dollars. The company also showed interest in expressway projects and proposed reducing construction timelines. Prime Minister Chinh urged CPCG to complete ongoing works and coordinate closely with authorities on new initiatives, including projects like the Gia Binh Airport access road, Ngoc Hoi Bridge, and major railway lines.

COMAC representatives discussed expanding cooperation in Vietnam's aviation sector, particularly in aircraft maintenance, manufacturing of parts, and ongoing operations with Vietnamese airlines. Noting the use of COMAC aircraft on domestic routes, Prime Minister Chinh encouraged further partnerships in areas such as aircraft leasing, repair services, and human resource development to support Vietnam's growing aviation industry.
