According to data from the China Building Sanitary Ceramics Association, China exported 53.51 million units of sanitary ceramics in the first half of 2026, representing a 6.4% year-on-year increase in volume. However, export value declined by 34.21% to $1.689 billion, indicating significant downward pressure on export pricing. The average export price fell sharply to $23.06 per unit in the second quarter, down 41.7% from $39.56 in the first quarter and 58.2% year on year, highlighting the growing intensity of price competition across the industry.

The Chinese bathroom industry is therefore facing a challenging market environment in 2026, characterised by rising export volumes but declining prices and weaker demand from the domestic refined-decoration segment. While lower pricing may support export volumes in the short term, sustained price competition is likely to put pressure on manufacturers’ margins. Against this backdrop, smart bathroom technologies, environmentally friendly products, technological innovation, and stronger brand development are expected to become increasingly important for Chinese manufacturers seeking to strengthen their competitiveness in global markets.
