China: Chinese companies exports more goods than expected in September, with shipments rising 8.3% year-on-year, surpassing the 6.6% forecast in a Bloomberg survey, while imports grew 7.4%, resulting in a $90.5 billion trade surplus. The stronger demand from markets beyond the US is helping Chinese firms withstand potential tariff hikes threatened by President Donald Trump and providing support to the domestic economy amid deflation and a weak housing market. Analysts expect third-quarter growth data, due October 20, to show some slowdown, though China remains on track to meet its official 5% annual growth target.
