INDIA: Blue Star is beginning to see early signs of recovery in air-conditioner sales after what its management described as a difficult year for the cooling industry. Managing Director B Thiagarajan said demand in the second half is improving, though it will not fully compensate for the sharp summer slowdown. “Second half is likely to be better than the first half, but it is not going to make up for the huge slowdown in demand during summer season,” he said, while noting stronger traction from the festive period onward.
Thiagarajan acknowledged the disappointment of 2025, saying, “We are not disheartened… It is disappointing by all scores. 2025 is a bad year, and we look forward to 2026.” He urged investors to assess performance over a longer horizon rather than focusing on base effects, adding that category fundamentals remain intact. He expects calendar year 2026 to be resilient, supported by low penetration and stable pricing. While large projects have seen slower order finalisation, he highlighted continued strength in factories and data centres and flagged the Jan. 1, 2026 energy-label transition as a key near-term execution challenge.
