Bahrain's Air Conditioner Imports Surge Over 50% Amid Construction Boom

Bahrain: In January 2025, Bahrain imported 10,000 air conditioners at a cost of BD 2 million (USD 5.3 million), a significant increase from the 4,000 units imported in January 2024 for BD 1.4 million (USD 3.7 million). This over 50% surge in imports is attributed to the expanding construction sector, government-backed projects, and a growing demand for energy-efficient models. The rise of smart city initiatives and the integration of advanced technologies, such as internet-connected and energy-saving features, are also contributing to this trend. Additionally, there is an increasing consumer shift toward split-unit air conditioners due to their efficiency and ease of maintenance.
