UK: B&Q has announced proposals to remove 672 job roles across its 318 stores and a further 65 roles from its head office as part of plans to simplify and restructure its retail structure. The affected positions include deputy managers, trading managers and team leaders. The company, which operates 301 stores in the UK, is consulting with employees and said it will look to provide alternative roles or support packages where possible.
Chief executive Graham Bell stated that the changes are aimed at reshaping and restructuring the business to align resources with customer service roles on the shop floor and to adjust some head office teams. The announcement follows a period of sales growth for B&Q and its parent company Kingfisher, driven by strong demand during the spring and early summer months. Earlier this year, B&Q increased pay rates for over 15,000 shop workers.
