CANADA: Alberta and the federal government have approved $203 million (US$148.4 million) in funding to support new affordable housing developments across the province.
According to Provincial Social Services Minister Jason Nixon, the joint investment will fund 25 projects, resulting in the construction of over 2,300 housing units.
These projects will include housing for young adults and students in downtown Edmonton, as well as units in Calgary designed to support individuals experiencing homelessness.
Nixon noted that this funding round helps the province stay on track to achieve its target of creating 82,000 housing units by 2031.
