AirJoule LLC Formed by GE Vernova and Montana for Sustainable HVAC and Water Solutions
USA: GE Vernova and Montana Technologies Corporation have launched AirJoule LLC, a joint venture aimed at creating sustainable HVAC solutions with reduced environmental impact. This partnership combines GE Vernova's sorbent materials and coating expertise with Montana’s patented dehumidification and air conditioning technologies. AirJoule’s system focuses on reducing energy consumption in air conditioning, which the International Energy Agency states currently accounts for 20% of electricity usage in buildings globally. According to Montana’s CEO, Matt Jore, “if you can reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning by 50% or 75%, that will make a big dent on greenhouse gas emissions."
AirJoule's technology also tackles water scarcity by harvesting water from air humidity, a feature critical as global temperatures rise. Limor Spector, President of Ventures and Incubation at GE Vernova, noted the synergy between the two companies’ IP and the significance of this partnership following GE Vernova’s recent spin-off from General Electric. Bryan Barton, formerly of GE Vernova, will serve as AirJoule’s CEO, with the GE Vernova Advanced Research team supporting R&D efforts.
