Netherlands / USA : Dutch discount retailer Action has announced plans to enter the United States following its continued European expansion, with its first store expected to open in the southeastern region by late 2027 or early 2028. Founded in 1993 in Enkhuizen, the company has grown to 3,302 stores across Europe and aims to establish 100 U.S. locations by 2030 using a disciplined, step-by-step expansion strategy. Recently, Action launched its first two stores in Croatia, with plans to enter Slovenia after summer and Bulgaria in 2026 as its 17th market. The retailer opened 384 stores in 2024 and plans to add another 400 in 2025, supported by new distribution centers in Italy, Spain, and France. Action reported a 16% increase in net sales to €16 billion (USD 17.44 billion) in 2025, driven by customer growth, with stores now serving an average of 21.6 million customers weekly.
